Many of them are based on a process that we call ketosis, in which your body stops using carbohydrates as the main source of energy, and instead uses its own body fat, and fat that is taken with food, as the primary energy source. The mentioned state of ketosis can be achieved by a <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://health.productsreport.org/goto/http://www.dietketogenic.com/ketogenic-diet-how-it-works.html" title="ketogenic type of diet"  target="_blank">keto diet</a>, which is actually just another name for a low carb diet, because on a ketogenic diet, you need to eat food that is rich in proteins and fats, and low in carbohydrates.<span id="more-451"></span> There are many different meals and food you can eat in order to meet the mentioned criteria. In this article we will mostly talk about fish and fish based products.</p>

<p>Fish is one of the most healthy sources of proteins. Not only do many fish species contain high percentages of proteins, but they mostly contain almost no carbohydrates at all, and only a small amount of fats. It is also important to mention that fish, especially saltwater fish, has a high amount of omega 3 fatty acids, which are known to be very healthy and heart-friendly. Fish and meals based on fish can, on a long term, help prolong life, lower the possibilty of heart diseases and circulation problems, and can also prevent many other diseases or conditions.</p>
</p>
<p>Avarage fish flesh (per 100 grams) contains about roughly 20-25 grams of proteins, 1-2 grams of fat, and mostly no carbohydrates at all. However, these are just the avarage values. Some fish types have more proteins, some less. Also, the amount of fat can also vary slightly.</p>
</p>
<p>As we can see, fish flesh usually has a very low amount of carbohydrates, and a fairly decent amount of proteins and fats, which is precisely what one needs to mantain the state of ketosis on a ketogenic diet, or to start the ketosis in the first place. There are many <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://health.productsreport.org/goto/http://www.dietketogenic.com/ketogenic-diet-tuna-sauce.html" title="recipes based on fish"  target="_blank">meals based on fish</a>, but one one should make sure that nothing that contains carbohydrates is added while preparing them.</p>

The mentioned state of ketosis can be achieved by a <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://health.productsreport.org/goto/http://www.dietketogenic.com/ketogenic-diet-how-it-works.html" title="ketogenic type of diet"  target="_blank">keto diet</a>, which is actually just another name for a low carb diet, because on the ketogenic diet, your goal is to eat food rich in proteins and fats, and low in carbs.<span id="more-448"></span> There are various things one can eat in order to meet the mentioned criteria. In this article we will mostly talk about meat and meat based products.</p>

<p>Meat is animal flesh that is used as food. Most often, when we mention meat, we think of the skeletal muscle and associated fat, but it can also be used to describe other edible animal tissues, such as organs like liver, skin, brain, kidneys and other parts. However, in this article we mostly mention meat as a skeletal muscle.</p>
</p>
<p>There are basically two types of meat &#8211; red and white meat. While red muscle tissue contains more narrow muscle fibers that tend to operate over long periods of time without rest, white muscle tissue contains more broad fibers that tend to work in short and fast bursts. Typical red meat would come from cows, goats and horses, while turkey and chicken (especially their breasts) are known for their white muscle tissue.</p>

<p>In avarage, adult animal skeletal muscle flesh contains roughly 75 percent of water, about 20 percent of protein, 2 percent of fat, 1 percent of carbohydrates and 2 percent of other substances. However, this can vary from one type of meat, to another. Chicken and turkey breasts are known to be amont the best types of meat, regarding protein content.</p>
</p>
<p>As you can see, meat usually has a very low amount of carbs, if none at all, and a fairly decent amount of proteins and fats, which is exactly what one needs to mantain the state of ketosis on a ketogenic type of diet.
