Here at Click 4 Beds we all enjoy sleeping, that’s why we work at a bed company! Here are some useful facts about sleeping that we’ve found on the internet for you to read.
- REM is ‘rapid eye movement’ and it happens when our eyes move under our eye lids and it is our deepest of sleep
- REM sleep starts once we have been asleep for about 90 minutes and it comes in random bursts during the night, in totally approximately two hours
- During REM sleep, we are practically paralysed, only our heart, diaphragm, intestine muscles, blood and eyes are not affected by REM
- We spend 1/3 of our lives asleep
- We sleep for around six years or 2,100 days of our lives
- The record for the longest time without sleep is 18 hours, 21 days and 40 minutes
- You should usually get to sleep within 10 to 15 minutes of trying
- We sleep approximately three hours less than other primates
- Teenagers and babies require 10 hours of sleep a night, adults need eight hours and seniors only need six hours
- We can take a nap with our eyes open
